The 5-foot-9, 170-pound athlete committed to the Black Knights on December 14th, 2014, the day after attending the Army-Navy game at M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, Mary.

“Army was my number one school before I went (to the game), but I think it was the experience I had this that weekend that told me I was ready to commit and be a part of what they have going on up there. Throughout the recruiting process, the more I learned about (West Point), the more intrigued I became. The coaching staff was great to me. I had good conversations Coach (Sean) Saturnio, who explained in-detail what West Point was all about.”

McGue selected Army over offers from Austin Peay State, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Murray State, and Tennessee State.

“Army would like me to play slotback in their veer formation, but they said they’ll give me a chance at quarterback. They primarily see me as a playmaker. They said they want someone who can come in and spark their offense with big-play ability and think I can fill that role with my quickness and athleticism.”

McGue, a four-year starter at Science Hill, was named Big Seven Conference Player of the Year in 2014. He threw for 2320 yards and rushed for 1171 with 47 combined touchdowns to led the Hilltoppers to an 11-2 record and to the Tennessee Class 6A quarterfinals for the first time in 20 years. He was also a Mr. Football Award finalist and played in the Toyota East vs. West All-Star Classic.

He is the the son of Denise White, brother of Gwan White, and nephew of Lynn White. McGue said it is currently undetermined if he will receive a direct appointment to West Point.
