CHALLENGES
This San Diego State team that Army will be playing is pretty darn good. They had big wins against Stanford and Arizona State. The Aztecs have a balanced offensive attack averaging almost 200 yards a game on the ground and 160 through the air. What’s worrisome is that SDSU has beaten an academy team already this season (Air Force) so they are familiar with the option game. The biggest challenge of this game for Army will be slowing down Aztec star running back Rashaad Penny who finished fifth in the recent Heisman Trophy voting. Penny has run for 2,074 yards and 19 touchdowns this season while averaging over seven yards a carry. He’s also a big threat at returning kicks and catching passes. Penny (5-11, 220) personally has more rushing yardage this season than 59 FBS teams have for their entire team season rushing yardage.
