ARMY FOOTBALL SPRING PRACTICE TO KICK OFF ON MARCH 21

With 2016 being such a banner year for Army football you can bet that the Black Knights’ players and coaches are chomping at the bit to get going again in 2017. We finally have a date for the start of the new season as the West Point football team will start spring practice on Tuesday, March 21, with 14 practices in just under a month leading up to the spring game on Saturday, April 15.

The schedule (posted below) jumps around all over the place with practices occurring on every day of the week over the course of late March and early April. It is worth knowing when these practices are though as they are free and open to the public at Foley Athletic Center and Howze Field.

The Black Knights took a how step forward in Jeff Monken’s third year, hitting eight wins in a season for the first time in 20 years. The Black Knights also won their first bowl game in seven years and beat Navy for the first time in a decade and a half. The big question now is what can Monken do as an encore?

Spring practice will be huge for Army this year as the Black Knights have big holes to fill on defense. The obvious spots are at linebacker where Andrew King and Jeremy Timpf dominated games last season, so much so that King, in particular, has a chance at making an NFL Training Camp squad. There is also a need at nose tackle to keep blockers off of the middle linebacker pair and the competition at quarterback will be intense as always with Ahmad Bradshaw leading the pack but no lock to keep his job.

Here is a list of the practices in full:
